  • What is the history of the GECU Foundation?
    The GECU Foundation was established in 2007 to help the community by funding grants/scholarships and supporting charitable causes and sponsored events. Since its inception, our foundation has funded scholarships to UTEP, Texas Tech and El Paso Community College students. We funded community foundations focused on supporting our communities through the COVID-19 pandemic and the immigrant crisis. It is a 501(c)(3) public charity that supports the credit union movement by assisting charitable causes focused on 11 developmental issues: education, savings mobilization, representation, hunger, health, housing, transportation, employment and income generation, access to credit, appropriate technology, and environment.

  • How can I submit a contribution request to the GECU Foundation?
  • What are the qualifications/guidelines to receive a grant?
    Organizations that wish to submit a request must be an established nonprofit or an accredited higher education institution and be able to present the impact of donations received.
  • What is the process for your giving requests?
    Contribution requests are evaluated on a quarterly basis and presented to the board of directors for approval. Submit a request for a contribution to your organization
  • Who is on the GECU Foundation Board of Directors?
    We are very grateful to have five passionate community members as part of our board that serve as volunteers. Crystal Long, Grace Vaughn, Tomás Sigala Jr., Elvira Valles and Valerie Venegas.
