Home Construction Loans with Qualified Home Builders

We’re Here to Answer Your New Construction Loan Questions
  • Are there other builders that GECU works with?
Yes, we work with many of the area builders in El Paso and Las Cruces.
  • How long is the process for a new construction?
The process for a newly constructed home generally can vary depending on the builder. Our home loan officers can walk you through the home construction loan process from start to finish.
  • Where do I get started with a new-build home loan?

We recommend getting prequalified for your financing at the very beginning of your home search. Once you're prequalified, you'll know exactly what price range you can afford and qualify for, including …

    • Standard loan guidelines
    • Estimated loan amount and monthly payment
    • Estimated loan costs
    • The home loan best suited for you
    • Additional information may be needed to complete your home loan application
  • Do I need to let the builder/realtor know that I am a GECU member?
Yes, let your builder/realtor know that you are financing your home loan through us so you may take advantage of our preferred builders program. We will work with your realtor to make the homebuying process as easy and seamless as possible.
  • What documents do I need to provide when applying for a new home loan?

You may need the following information throughout the application process:

    • Two most-recent W-2s
    • Two most-recent Federal Tax Returns
    • Pay stubs for the last 30 days
    • Two current, valid forms of identification (e.g., driver’s license, state-issued ID, Social Security card)
    • Most-recent bank statements for the last two months
    • Proof of any other income (Social Security, retirement, etc.)
  • My realtor asked me for a prequalification letter. What is that? Can GECU help me with that?
Prequalification lets you know how much you can afford. At times, realtors and builders may request a letter in order to enter into contract with them. We can provide you with a prequalification letter. Get prequalified by calling us toll-free at 1.800.772.4328.
